Project

Upgrading Education and Research Capacity in Renewable Energy Technologies

The purpose of the UPERCRET project is to upgrade KNUST’s capacity to deliver globally competitive education and research in the field of renewable energy technologies. The project is hosted by The Energy Centre, KNUST, Ghana, and supported by NMBU and NTNU Alesund, in Norway.

The major thematic areas of focus are:

  • Solar PV and solar thermal
  • Bioenergy (bio-fuel, biomass and biogas)

It is hoped that by training manpower at the masters and PhD level, and upgrading research laboratories, KNUST’s MSc in Renewable Energy Technologies will be sustained, and make available workforce to solve energy challenges in sub-Saharan Africa.
